A fines del 2016 fuimos invitados por el curador Maxime Holland para participar en la residencia Hawapi, sobre el conflicto limítrofe entre Chile y Perú. El territorio explorado es el triángulo terrestre, disputado por los dos países. Nos instalamos en este lugar junto a un grupo de 15 artistas de varios países por 10 días en mayo del 2017. A partir del riesgo latente debido a la histórica presencia de campos minados en estos terrenos, nos propusimos hacer visibles los movimientos y marcas que los participantes producían durante la residencia. El objetivo de esta intervención fue hacer visible y seguro nuestro proceso de ocupación de este delicado espacio. Como resultado, el trabajo “Los Invasores” refleja nuestra experiencia del lugar durante la residencia, incluyendo la intervención realizada en el triángulo y reflexiones posteriores.
La instalación, exhibida en octubre 2017 en la Casa de la Cultura San Marcos, Lima y en Marzo 2018 en el Centro Nacional de Arte Cerrillos, Santiago, se compone de 3 elementos; un video díptico transmitido en 2 canales más audio, una fotografía de 110 x 73 cm y un libro de artista.
At the end of 2016 we were invited by Hawapi (Maxime Holland) to participate in a residency at the border between Chile and Peru. The territory where we stayed is the land with a triangle shape between the two countries.
We settled in this place together with a group of 15 artists from various countries for 10 days in May 2017. Based on the latent risk due to the historical presence of minefields in these lands, we set out to make visible the movements and marks that the participants produced during the residency. The objective of this intervention was to make our process of occupation visible and safe. As a result, the work “The Invaders” reflects our experience of the place during the residency, including the intervention made in the triangle and later reflections.
The installation, exhibited in October 2017 at the Casa de la Cultura San Marcos, Lima and in March 2018 at the Cerrillos National Art Center, Santiago, was composed of 3 elements; a video diptych transmitted in 2 channels plus audio, a photograph of 110 x 73 cm and an artist’s book.
